MIDI interface recommendation

I'm looking for recommendations for an inexpensive MIDI to lightning port interface. I need both MIDI in and out (IN so I can use my MIDI keyboard to input parts, OUT so I can put out a start / stop / clock over MIDI so my external drum machines and workstation can "play along"). I was looking at iRig Midi 2 and iConnect Midi 1 - they seem similar so I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with either - or has another recommendation. Looking for something under $100 (these are about $69/79)

    for now, NS2 doesn't send midi start/stop/clock

Audiobus can take care of that. It can start and stop NS2, and it can send Link, midi clock and midi start/stop to external gear. (Not 100% sure on the midi start/stop to external gear, but the rest for sure.)

  • Thanks all - number37, do you know if it can work the other way around - in other words, stop and start from my external gear and NS2 plays along? I'm just hoping to be able to sync my drum machine and/or hardware sequencer with NS2....
