  • No signature links please, they tend to add a spam-like odor in my opinion. We already have profile pages for self-promotion and dedicated threads for posting songs and patches. Signatures on individual posts remind me of tacky lawn ornaments or cars with fake vents and unnecessary spoilers...they're more for the owners'…
  • @"Blip Interactive" non-destructive start/end points in the sample editor would be an improvement, multiple slices with export would be above and beyond! Incorporating a MIDI sequence generator seems novel, though I can understand how it could be convenient having an audio+MIDI version of an audio loop (could be used to…
  • @nkdvkng got me like
  • Wow! That was an experience!
  • @nkdvkng Daaaannnng, you been busy man!!! Just downloaded these, gonna give them a whirl tonight!
  • I like that description 👍 @Cray23 That was amazing! Those drums were definitely on point. Like @nkdvkng said, got a real Roni Size vibe on that beat! Those vocal samples were well done too, I especially like the part around when they fire the laser🤘😎
  • Whatever floats your boat...here’s this anyway: https://youtu.be/KKtMwKpfVVU
  • You actually can chop a sample into individual pads in Slate, just doesn’t have that kind of interface. Use the Amp Hold and Decay settings to set the end of the hit, copy and paste to another pad, then on the Sample tab use the Offset knob to move the loop position, fine tune the end with Hold and Decay, repeat the…
  • @nkdvkng just hit that link and when the browser opens up press the top right menu, choose export, choose Open In NS2...it imports, you’ll see a little notice at top center of the screen, then it’s in User presets. Otherwise you can drag and drop it using Files. Just thought about it for a second, think I…
  • I’ve been finding that I can chop my OP-1 drum kit samples fairly easily in Slate using Hold, Decay, and Offset controls. Simple to copy, paste, adjust, repeat. That opens the door for pirating drum presets from OP1.fun ...if it’s booty ye be afterrr. All of the Sampler presets on there can be used in Obsidian as well.
  • @nkdvkng That’s what’s up! Way to go brother!
  • @TwistedGenetics I may be misunderstanding too, but there’s always the old school way to use sample loops in Slate (like you would on a hardware sampler). Set the Amp Decay to max, put it in a Group with max polyphony of 1. Then set a loop on the main sequencer as many bars long as the sample, put a sequence with one note…
  • @kleptolia Always good to see people creating new music...although I have posted a feature request on this form, the lack of that feature doesn't diminish my enthusiasm for figuring out NS2! Hopefully we'll see more people posting here soon. I was gonna guess maybe some Roland CR78 hits, forgot about the Korg Minipops.…
  • @dendy Thank you!!! That’s quite a compliment! I’ve shared it on YouTube and Instagram, and rode my horse through the village ringing a bell and shouting out NS2 praises😄 Always forget those text button exist, still getting acclimated I guess, will remember that for future jams! @kleptolia another solid track, love your…
  • While messing with Obsidian last night it dawned on me that as a sampler it has about 90% of the features and functionality of the Korg MicroSampler (which sells for about $200+ these days). One of the more useful functions of the MS that I can’t mimic with Obsidian is an FX ON/OFF per sample. Performance-wise, the…
  • Here’s a little jam from the other night. I like using NS2 for live mixing loops with effects: https://youtu.be/hchCW5hqEyQ The animations were made in Rough Animator and the video was edited in LumaFusion. Hope you enjoy this offering (I understand this forum may not necessarily be the typical demographic for this…
  • @nkdvkng I could hear some Sade on that one!
  • @3sleeves said: Avast, ye mateys! I'm drifting twelve miles out on a Somali freighter...come on in, the water is nice. @Fruitbat1919 I've got coffee and tea in the galley, the kettle will be whistling soon. (in case you do download that Slate patch, pads 1 and 5 didn't get zipped but use a factory sound that can be found…
  • I'm in a geographical oddity, two weeks from everywhere... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ4z0QhD92Y Ever since CERN fired up that atom smasher I've been stuck in this dimension...the US President (and state of politics in general) is definitely shitty here, but the app selection is way better in this part of the…
  • This is definitely going to be the thread I check first when I visit, love to hear and see how everyone is using NS2!!! As someone who typically makes downtempo/chill/boombap type beats this is quality edu-tainment. I'm picking up tips and techniques from other genres that I want to incorporate into my workflow! It's…
  • KQ Dixie is great! So far I've only encountered a dozen or so old DX7 patches that it won't load correctly, out of about 400+ I've tried. Not sure about microtuning though, never had the need. In other iOS DAWs it runs very efficiently as well, one of the most stable synth plugins in my experience (almost as solid as…
  • The fact that an Instrument Overview screen exists will make mixing on the iPhone easier than with the NS1 mixer, and that's really the most critical screen for live performing with the app in my workflow. Tapping beats on the TRG 16 in NS1 on iPhone is like playing a fun game with really easy controls, but with more…
  • @LeeB Thanks! They can be found in Instruments/Slate/Factory/Deep In/Kik deep 3.
  • @LeeB Thanks for the heads up...just realized none of the factory sounds got packed in the zip file. Can you confirm, are pads 1 and 5 missing, or the two “bassdrum_010” that should be on pads 13 and 14? Pads 1 and 5 were supposed to be “Kik deep 3” from Factory kit Deep In... @StevePAL am I doing something I’m not…
  • Also worth noting, there are basically only 4 colors since each swatch has an almost identical twin ;) When trying to designate a color to a type of hit it gets to slim pickings by the time percussion is added...maybe some more variety in the swatches could be beneficial, or a color wheel if there is no established…
  • This topic got hairy in a hurry...maybe I’ll just stick to uploading Obsidian patches. The Slate kit I uploaded in the other thread contained some one shot samples I’ve had on hand since the late 90’s, used them in Little Drummer Boy by Master Zap (Windows95 drum machine). There are also 4 pads with a chopped and heavily…
  • Well, until a Slate Kit Megathread is warranted here’s a solid boom bap kit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xlc1n43l8z6ymx3/3sleeves_boomBAP.zip?dl=0 It’s got some factory sounds and a few from my personal stash. There are essentially 2 basic kits with groups of hats, shakers, and tambourines...and some special sauce in the top…
  • @dendy My initial curiosity with the subject was when it came up in a thread about automating the pitch of hi hats in a pattern. Pitched hats and kicks are common in trap and current hip hop beats, so I can understand why it would be a desired feature for some users. I could also imagine it could help in sound design, it…
