  • @dendy said: I hope he does more videos on NS2. I feel he will do more videos. Think about fact he just scratched surface in some parts of Obsidian (like FM oscillator itself is thing for half hour video - i wish to see hi…
  • If you insert a space before the hash symbol, vanilla renders it like one of those hashy things, not an h1 as per markdown. #truestory
  • Jakob's enthusiasm is so unbelievably infectious. In a world full of "youtubers", I think he's the one I'd most like to get absurdly sauced with. Sidebar: I'm yet another stupid yank (yasy?) but Matt sounds kinda posh to me. Like, he prolly wears…
  • One glaring omission of Nanostudio 2 is it's lack of true 'note repeat' while you play live. You have to 'draw in' you're notes in the piano roll editor. This isn't a showstopper for a lot of trap producers that come from FL on PC but for physical e…
  • @anickt said: RTFM? Woudn't that be a glorious world? If everyone read the manuals, we'd probably already have flying cars because developers and engineers would have so much extra time! Alas, people don't and, obviously, keeping things a…
  • With regard to the initial question... First, I get it and I would absolutely use this. I wonder though, if there was an "always available" keyboard you could pull up anywhere (überkeyboard?), including in the MIDI Editor, would that be more useful …
  • Yep. Very common on Elektron boxes as well. Maybe exceedingly so. @dendy said: I agree tap'n'hold one control and do some special action with other control is whole new universe waiting to be explored even for people with just ordinary two…
  • You're not missing anything, unfortunately. Currently, the MIDI output from internally hosted AUs can not be captured. It's very much on Matt's radar though. Until it lands in the app, the work around you found (record from an external MIDI source) …
  • @drez said: I wish I could select some notes, then while holding down then duplicate button, I could use the arrows and as soon as pressed the first arrow, it would duplicate all the notes and move them as that same selected group. Then You take …
  • Here's more on it. https://www.steinberg.net/fileadmin/files/PRODUCTS/Apps/Cubasis/Cubasis_Help/EF_Rack.html#spinfx Looks pretty fun.
  • @toneman said: @aliosa27 said: One in particular is turnado, it receives midi notes, so I will draw a note on the group track, then go back to the audio effects, hold down a parameter and select midi learn, play that portion of the …
  • @dendy said: No, mod wheel slider in settings == mod wheel range AU param... even if you map MW range to macro, tweak it andvtben you go to settings, you see that slider value is changed.. Gotcha.
  • @Cyril said: @dendy said: @Cyril Wait, you are trying to say that "ModWheel range" actually DOES it's job and applies modulation ?? Now i'm super confused - it does not work for me. "Modwheel Range" actually just changes …
  • @dendy said: @Will Yes i understand how modwheel range works... but still it doesn't apply modulation if you use it inside NS because you cannot send modwheel value itself... So inside NS2 modwheel value is still 0. Still haven't tried i…
  • You are correct that this isn't possible yet. Actually, I didn't even realize there was some amount of MIDI note based automation of AU effects possible at all. Could you explain a little further what you've done (which AU, which controls, etc)? …
  • @tja said: Can we please let the topics contains postings to the respective topic? This is not only "hygienic" but realy, realy helps to find stuff! It is required for a forum, IMHO. This topic is about "Feature requests, bug reports…
  • @Cyril That's great news. I started to mess with this very path but got distracted. @dendy If I'm understanding Cyril correctly, automating 'Range' is essentially the same if you set a ModWheel of 100% in the settings. So... Settings ModWheel:…
  • Could you post a little more about what that is for those of us not in the know?
  • There haven't been any updates yet. Are you trying to update NanoStudio 1 to NanoStudio 2? If so, that won't work. NanoStudio is a new app that needs to be purchased separately. Unfortunately, Apple does not allow for paid upgrades and Matt's kid…
  • This brings me back to my little wish since beta: "Slate -> Menu -> Copy Pad to New Obsidian Instance". So, in that moment when you're thinking "I wanna automate the pitch on this", there's a super fast non-brain-blocking way to get the sound …
  • @toneman said: @Will said: It can feel like a waste of money but basically as soon as some plugin does something goofy twice, we're done. With the AUv3 flakiness going on, you must break up with a lot of plugins these …
  • @anickt said: I think I’m just going to stick with Obsidian and Slate. These kinds of hassles are what made me mainly use Caustic. I’m happy with what NS2 can do so I’m not going to bother with AU synths other than the @brambos apps which h…
  • @Audiogus said: @toneman said: @Audiogus said: PS/troll: it is working OK in BM3 Ok, thanks. If it’s working in other daws, then I guess it’s a bug (?) Could still be a…
  • That's correct. Think Slate macros are somewhere on the todo list but no idea what specific plans are, if any. For now, you can automate that stuff by loading the sample into an Obsidian.
  • @MattFletcher2000 said: Just an idea... What I’d really find useful on this thread is any pointers on how to make interesting Obsidean patches. Perhaps if someone who made (or has noticed) any of the factory patches that do somethin…
  • @Arpseechord said: Ok that makes sense, I tend to use AUs a bit...but I have one song with only two tracks of Moog Model D and there’s no pop up after listening to it with no alterations to the song? Thanks It's not a global/default …
  • Hmm, now I'm even more confused. How did it work in AUM using AU Param automation then? As a not-so-awesome work around.... would it be possible to use a separate MIDI Instrument track to send CC1 to the Model D track? I'm not sure if NS supports…
  • @drez said: @UncleBen great tune! The clarity of the different textures in the mix is spot on. You featured those sounds very well. Excellent work! Very much what Drez said. @JaeLaRedd "The groove is strong with this one" - Yoda @…
  • @dendy said: @Will I'd prefer to have a "NS Creations" category with a single post per creation but understand that others prefer the opposite. I'm all in !! Can we create new category or just Matt have rights for thi…
