  • Simple uplifter: 1* Obsidian: osc1 set to noise through Filter 1; Filter 1 set to LP. Turn all other oscillators off. Automate the filter cutoff upwards over 4 bars from 0% to 80% for an uplifter transition. Or automate the filter cutoff downwards over 4 bars from 80% to 0% for a downlifter transition. Add fx, increase the…
  • Ah - just seen all the new Russian correspondence in the forum…
  • Someone left their phone unlocked?
  • @bobheads - where the tip is useful is where you have a lot of volume automation on a track but when mixing you notice that the track at its loudest is just too loud: if you have automated the mixer volume then you would need to modify the automation to lower the highest volume nodes individually- which can be tedious to…
  • It’s an old trick I’ve ported over from Cubase on desktop 😊
  • @nino : If you don’t mind adding a step in the process and you have either of 4Pockets’ (both superb) MultiTrackRecorder (“MTR”) or Neon auv3 plugins then they both start recording in sync with the NS2 transport (if you enable the “Host sync”) option in their settings. They sit in the insert fx chain and record whatever…
  • @bobheads - Tip: Regarding individual track volume and pan automation: I never automate the mixer slider values themselves - instead I always place at the end of each track’s insert FX a StereoGain effect and I automate that - this way should I decide that a track’s overall volume needs adjusting I can still manually set…
  • At least they are happy they registered…
  • L7 is coded using Audiokit. Audiokit auv3 apps are notoriously buggy and unstable - everywhere, not just in NS2. p.s. I’m so happy I now registered 😂😂
  • I agree. I was really surprised with that NS2 “doesn’t edit midi” comment. I don’t “jam” & I rarely ever record live playing. Everything I produce is done through inputting and editing midi within NS2s interface. And man - isn’t NS2 feature rich and easy to use in this respect 👌👍😊
  • Triggering samples in Slate is exactly the same workflow as to how I triggered samples in the Akai S950 from an Atari running Cubase a long long long time before the concept of an “audio track” ever existed anywhere except on physical tape. Ah, running Cubase in sync with the multitrack tape using smpte timecode - awesome…
  • Exactly this. I do not have an iPad - I only have an iPhone because my work provides one so I am contactable 24/7. Being able to make music on it in NS2 is wonderful for me. 2 minutes waiting for a work issue to compile? Phone out, add some automation to the filter cutoff of the melody line I wrote on the train in to the…
  • @dendy - the issue occurs in standalone and in other hosts. It’s not an NS (or NS’s internal database issue). Synthmaster1 (iPhone version) was broken with their last update, but they are now concentrating on firefighting the Synthmaster2 for iPad bugs being raised. They have lost interest in SM1 (iPhone version) because…
  • As my comment above states, I use it a lot in NS2, although my usage tends to be (although not solely) for resampling usage. I have never used it for, say, recording an entire indie-guitar band.
  • I think the iPhone version of Synthmaster1 is abandonware. I have several bug tickets outstanding with them regarding presets & sound loading that they have never bothered to even acknowledge (ie the tickets, let alone the bugs). I have even tried emailing their support directly (politely of course) but I never get a…
  • The programmer productivity tool #Resharper (I use this 100% of the time in my day job) has the subscription model others have described in this thread: ie you pay a yearly subscription that gives you all updates for that year (bugfixes, new features, whatever). If you choose to cancel the subscription, you then get to…
  • I see it a lot over at the Audiobus forums: people who have paid hundreds & thousands of $ for their incredibly expensive iPads and/or incredibly expensive iphones - and with expensive hardware midi controllers attached to their devices in a lot of cases - moaning that some auV3 effect or synth is too expensive because it…
  • Sorry - only just saw this update news so I’m a little late. Fantastic to hear 1. you’re ok Matt; 2. NS2 is still being developed. I’m holding out on buying the IAP until it goes to full price - it’s nice that you offered the discount but I’m happy for you to have the full amount for it as I suppose every little helps.…
  • 👍👌😊 (I’m also assuming you’re the same jwm as seen at the Audiobus forum?)
  • Woah! “ a so-so soft synth” ??! Obsidian? Tough crowd, tough crowd. A 3 oscillator synth where each oscillator covers every type of synthesis except additive (i.e. virtual-analog/multi-saw/multi-noise/FM/Wavetable/multi-layered-Sample-player - most synth types including RingMod & Sync). Each patch can have 3 fully…
  • There’s also WOOTT auv3 by Bram Bos - literally modelled on OTT: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/woott/id1511149985
  • @dendy - can you help out Pete?
  • I open the track where I have an instance of “Multitrack Recorder” auv3 plugin setup and there they are: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/multitrack-recorder-plugin/id1483833410 *you can’t record audio from an external source, but I use it extensively for resampling within NS2 (as it sits in an FX slot it can record anything…
  • In Cubase? There are a couple of ways: * Click on a midi note with the dedicated Mute tool. * Drag a rectangle with the Mute tool, enclosing all notes that you want to mute. * Select the notes with the normal note selector and then select Edit > Mute. * To unmute notes, click it or enclose it/them with the Mute tool. You…
  • Don’t worry Will, it’s no longer the most active of forums anymore. Tbf there isn’t that much to discuss really. NS2 is stable so rarely - if ever - are there any bugs to report on here (releases of new versions of iOS maybe breaking something withstanding). Ideas for new features seems to be a waste of character taps on…
  • +1 👍 A very useful feature implemented by Steinberg a very long time ago in Cubase on desktop.
  • I miss being able to do this from being able to do it using Cubase on PC. I didn’t realise just how often I used this functionality until moving to iOS and finding it gone. I do not have Cubasis as I’ve stuck rigidly with NS2 so cannot say if Steinberg have implemented it in it.
  • Double tapping a control resets it to it’s default position in NS2. That is fairly standard for iOS synths/fx apps and I like it and would not want that to change. iOS synths/fx and music apps that don’t have that really annoy me. I agree though that it would be much easier to set precise values by inputting them as text…
