You can preset the NS2 keyboard to 64, 100 or 127. You can also edit velocity levels after the fact. If you’re using an external keyboard MIDI Tools will allow you to set a maximum velocity level.

Delete that note. Is there another one under it?

I always ask myself, “does automating this effect make a real contribution to my song?”. If I really feel I need it, my next question is, “can I do it with an NS2 effect?”. Often, I can achieve what I want. If absolutely not then export the audio, do the effect in AUM and re-import. Honestly, I’ve often found myself…

There’s probably a million free samples of risers and transitions on the web. Just get some of those and assign to Slate or Obsidian. Add more fx on top of them if you want and you’re good. I’d use Obsidian because it will stretch the sample over the full range of the keyboard so you’ll have a different pitch and texture…

Good trick! 😎👍🏼

Put one or two measures of count-in (hat, stick or whatever) at the head of your song. Go into the record page. Start recording (1). Then start the sequence playing (2). Start playing after the count-in. Trim the front of the recording and you should be good.

Good point @Will 😎👍🏼

I love big rumbling bass! Nice tune! 😎👍🏼

The use of handles to move elements around in NS2 is what sets it apart and makes it so much easier to use than any other iOS DAW IMHO. Tapping and dragging is not always a good way of working. I can rearrange an entire timeline in NS2 in seconds while it is playing back which is something you can’t do in any other DAW…

Best on iOS IMHO! 😎👍🏼

I just spent 30 minutes with NS2. iPad 8 on iOS 14.7.1. No issues FWIW.

Thanks @TSTRDoug !

I’d pay $100 for an audio tracks IAP right now and NS2 is the only app I would subscribe to. Just my 2 coins… 😎👍🏼

I have Logic on my Mac Pro but my work (video editing) is all done on the Mac and I just like to get away from it so I don't do any music on it. Everything I do in NS2 or other apps (usually AUM) gets exported to wav and then arranged in Cubasis 3. I tried most of the other DAW's including MTD and found I get along best…

Sorry it’s not working for you. It’s strange that some people on the Audiobus forum who have essentially the same setup as me have all these weird issues and I don’t see them at all. I wonder if there’s some kind of small manufacturing defect on those devices. No way to know I guess. 😎👍🏼

This happened to me recently. Never before and not since. Just took a re-boot of my iPad to fix it. Missing AU’s is a known iOS issue and not specific to any one app. And it’s very sad to see you so dismissive of one of the best music apps on iOS. “So-so soft synth and a bunch of drum kits”? I think not. As you say, you…

If nothing else changed except the addition of audio tracks I would never use any other DAW on iOS. For my purposes NS2 has the absolute best workflow and UX. I’ve tried so hard to work with the others but there’s always something that makes me say “too bad this isn’t implemented like in NS2”. My compromise is to use NS2…

I find MTR too fiddly to use in NS2. What I’ve been doing is creating basic tracks in NS2, doing mixdowns and arranging them in Cubasis. It’s the most reasonable workflow I’ve found for what I do. After spending time (and money) during COVID trying out most of the iOS DAW’s, I still think NS2 is the best for workflow and…

There’s a default pitch envelope in the envelope section of Obsidian.

It’s drag and drop from a menu on the timeline. Pretty similar to everything else in NS2. Do it once and it’s easy ever after.
