  • Does anyone know if there is a more simple audio plugin available? The MultiTrack Recorder plugin looks amazing but is overkill just for a backing track, and at £9.99 I would love to find a cheaper plugin which will just provide one track of audio.
  • Ok, that's pretty cool. So I could use this as a stop-gap for audio tracks if it's not possible for it to be implemented in NS2 soon/ever. I haven't had a problem using Slate to trigger long samples as backing tracks, but it does cause some anxiety should I ever need to start part way through a song, and also means that I…
  • Interesting, thanks Trigger. Life effects would be nice, but I've got my Boss pedal which can take MIDI input from NS2 so I can effectively get all the live effects I want with NS2 control. Much more interesting though is whether this plugin could be used to work around audio tracks until they are added to NS2, as I always…
  • Thank you so much for this update, particularly for increasing Obsidian's polyphony. This will make performance with NS2 so much easier :) Hopefully next stop audio tracks!
  • Oh weird, when @number37 posted that I went and looked in case that’s what they meant, but I couldn’t find it. Searching for Nanostudio on the App Store, there are a load of other music apps before it in the results. Hopefully it will move up the results soon!
  • I may adapt it or make another one when the iPhone version of NS2 is out, but I’m bot sure I’d want such a small screen.
  • Thanks man! If I was into the whole sales and business thing then I’d consider making them for other people. Maybe one day I’ll sell out and do it :p
  • I suppose as things become more complex they need to be miniaturised to a greater extent, and that brings with it increasing fragility. This is why the resurgence in analogue is a good thing ;)
  • I wonder how these things pass quality assurance  Such a shame as most people don’t have the skills to resolver connections.
  • It is such a shame there isn’t a good iPad dock either with or without keyboard. It would be a killer device for studio and live work. Thankfully there is Lego and superglue :p
  • Oh interesting. That could be helpful for live performance indeed. This app just gets deeper and deeper!
  • I think I’ve already reviewed it, but I’ll double check. Edit - yup, I’ve already posted an obsequious, sycophantic review ;) Though I’ve just updated it since I started using NS2 for live performance and it has been amazing.
  • Ah that’s good to know. Copying into subfolders by way of a set list is doable then, as it won’t take up too much more data. Shortcuts would still be nice, but it’s unlikely a live track is going to change significantly and require re-copying. Thanks dude!
  • Oh nice one. I actually hadn’t thought of the instrument selector as a tab like the others so hadn’t tried to tap it. It makes sense that it is tappable. But yeah a more direct approach on the perform page would be great ;)
  • Nice one, thanks dudes B)
  • Yeah I've heard that about the Focusrite. I needed something with keys, but I have read similar issues about other docks too. I wouldn't trust them sadly. Yes the cable can flex with movement, but I think this actually helps rather than hinders the connections. As the instrument is moved around the cables can flex if…
  • Yeah last night it was amazing! Physically very robust, and it all worked perfectly when I was given the time to actually set up properly. NS2 is rock solid, and it played my backing tracks and solo lines (played on the Alesis) perfectly. I was really happy with it. And it was amazing in terms of crowd engagement. Before I…
  • Thanks man. We all have rough gigs, and bad sound isn't the worst that can happen. I actually went to a different open mic last night and had an amazing experience. And the lego rig got a lot of attention :)
  • Interesting idea, thanks dude! I'm a Reason user and I believe it does support Ableton Link, so syncing with NS2 is possible. This is definitely a great compromise while hoping for a VST/desktop version of NS2. Thanks man!
  • Or even, make the division of polyphony by the number of voices on the oscillator optional, so if disabled all sixteen notes of polyphony will be available no matter how many voices are selected.
  • That's great that it's not out of the question. I had assumed it was written in Cocoa (either Obj-C or Swift). Will keep my fingers crossed that a desktop/VST version comes some day. I agree though that audio tracks and iPhone version should be the priority.
  • Heh it did get a lot of attention last night. People were quite fascinated by it. Sadly the performance wasn't the best. It was open mic and I didn't get any time to set up (usually they give me 10 minutes to check all my gear but last night they didn't) so there were technical issues. I got through it but I wasn't happy…
  • Yeah the whole thing is so well thought-out B)
  • Amazing, thank you! That worked perfectly B) I really love this community.
  • Thanks guys! Oooh I didn't think of flashing lights. I'm intending to take different lego stuff and put it on at each gig so it will look different every time. Some flashing lights could be cool. It's got 5v into the back of it which will also power the iPad once I get a connector to wire on to the power input, so I could…
  • Well it works perfectly! I had to use a powered hub for my Alesis controller, but in combination with the adapter I posted above, it all works perfectly. I can charge the iPad, and use my USB controller, and use the audio output on the adapter too. So I've done the only sensible thing and built a live rig out of Lego B)
  • Thanks guys. It has good reviews so hopefully will work well. Even if it’s just a cheap POC to then invest in the more expensive Apple unit if necessary. I’ll report back once it has arrived :)
  • Ah, just found this at Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07F36D4MT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AT1OF6CSKTVSW&psc=1 It will give me a USB port to which I can connect a powered hub for the Alesis, a headphone jack for audio out, and a passthrough lightning connection for charging the iPad :sunglasses:
  • Dude that's the perfect answer... I just got impatient and bought Troublemaker B) Thanks for confirming I made the right choice! I'm playing with it now, and it's not quite as squeaky as the lovely 303 patch I'm using in Reason, but I could probably EQ it and push a bit more out of it, and it'll do for live. Just exporting…
