To my ears, I knew the first one was Model D and the second Obsidian. I mean, I've been a synth head for 15 years, so of course that'll be an unfair advantage in determining which is which given Model D has a slightly meatier sound. However, Obsidian is at the very least 99% close to it, and if you were to put both synths…

@nkdvkng Lol bloody hell. 😂

Links in profiles, yes. Signatures, god no. The Image-Line forums used to have signatures, and a handful of people would put all sorts of crazy things in there, including full photos and the like. Just awful and ruins the flow of a thread.

I know that one guy on page one got "butthurt" about possible "trolling". I'm more of a smart-arsed pisstaker myself and don't take things too seriously, hence the "" and ":smirk:" faces I pop in the posts I'm not being all that serious in (in addition to the lack of exclamation points), just in case the context was a…

No seriously, this is about the same as our friend Doug freaking out over some mysterious "game changer" only for it to be a Cubasis update that added a Roli Noize 5D interface when using the AU, of which only 3Ds are available due to the lack of 3D touch in most iPad models, and from which none of the SWAM packs (i.e. the…
-
Cubasis has audiotracks, IAA support, and AB3 support, so Cubasis still has a lot of catching up to do. * It lacks a proper bussing system. * Lacks sidechain. * Only 5 FX slots (a holdover from the days of the iPad 2). * Still doesn't play nice with quite a few AUs (crashes harder than a stoner). * Shit handling of zooming…

This. I get the same key layout.

Lol. You mean people who socialise more than make music?
-
Okay, that is freaky. I read the first post, skipped to page two, and wrote my above post. I had no idea I was repeating what you already said. 😱 What are the bloody odds? Now THAT is hilarious. The result of wanting to be social but also rushing so I can get back into the NS2 environment. I'm glad you and I are on…

Okay, and here are the presets in a zip. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ytx3vh5jyvnkprk/Now%20It%27s%20Time%20Presets.zip?dl=0 Open Files, navigate to On My iPad and then Nanostudio 2, and then go to these following directories... For the Obsidian patches, Nanostudio 2>Instruments>Obsidian>User and drop those in there. For the…

Well, it wasn't my intention to be "100% hilarious" but rather share my enthusiasm about Obsidian.

I think Obsidian was designed to not have a certain "characteristic" to its sound. That's the beauty of it. It's neutral which means more flexibility with sound design and mixing rather than being stuck to a certain characteristic (which can always be introduced via third party plugins). For example, Klevgrand have some…

Thank you all for the compliments mates. :) Guess I'll be finishing the track later on during free time. Believe it or not, I use cheap-as-shit Sony consumer headphones with a non-flat signal and spectral smearing to mix. If it sounds good on those, it'll sound good on 90% other systems. I'll be uploading the presets (both…

 All these years, I've thought similar regarding the brass patch, that it reminded me of an English Murder Mystery series. (In the Stateside, Public Broadcasting Stations often run BBC shows, my favourites being Poirot and Miss Marple.) Now onto my "one week later" impressions. God DAMN is this app a massive beast!…

Ah, that's sort of what I was afraid of, but I just read in the manual about dragging and dropping tracks to make them "children" tracks, i.e. all routed to the main master track. That's bloody brilliant on Matt's part! Okay, thanks mate. :) Cheers.
-
Yeah, I've never got on with bs-16i. And, funny enough, but my SFZ collection is from DSK.
-
Ruby. :smirk:
-
Not really. I mean, some words like "lovel" and "hivel" may appear confusing at first, but those simply mean "low velocity" and "high velocity". I did run into an issue where some of the SFZs in the pack had more than 96 wav samples (32 zones per oscillator), and I searched online to find an SFZ player AU for iOS and found…

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to what comes next. :) Cheers.

That is one sick and cool animation! 😱 Like a wise man finally reaching Nirvana (singularity with the universe, not Kurt). @dendy I knew some of that, but I did NOT know about the rand1 trick. That's bloody ripper. @Fruitbat1919 @Cray23 Obsidian is a sound-designer's dream come true. One could argue other apps are, but I…

LOLOL! That didn't even dawn on me believe it or not, or I would've titled the thread that.

Me, I worked mostly inside the walls of Gadget, would bounce the stems, and mix down in either Auria or AUM. Gadget is on IAA. I know this because I would often route it to AUM so I could make the signal mono when premixing "in the box" (i.e. adjusting levels and eqing) prior to stem bouncing. Gadget's sequencer certainly…
-
Sounds like a good plan mate. :) I myself will be 'converting' my Gadget projects to NS2 myself, many of which started life as NS1 projects prior to iOS 11 believe it or not.

Hey mates. :) Class of 2011 here. I remember when I first purchased Nanostudio 1 through iTunes on a PC and transferred it to my iPod Touch 4th Gen, lol.
-
It looks like there's no way to edit a post or reply in this forum (at least after an hour) in order for me to clarify something/adjust the tone of something as I often tend to not word things right 100% of the time, lol. For instance, in my post above, I come off as a downer/complainer/a tool when that wasn't actually my…

Hey mate. :) Glad you made it over here. It's great to see one of the good guys come on over. Anyways, well, the IAPs do leave a little to be desired, but I'm crafting my "first impressions" thread that explains all, mostly positive.

Those who use 32-bit can continue on with NS1. Those with 64-bit can continue on with NS2. So there is the solution there. Not the greatest solution, but better than our 32-bit mates being left with nothing. So many great productions were crafted in NS1 afterall.
-
Precisely! I'd rather the iPhone version once I get my XR next year. ;) Then I can produce full on productions on the road.
-
Exactly. +1

Meh, when it comes to the SFZ format, I use the folder with the sounds to pop them into Obsidian and read the .sfz text to find out where/how to set the zones, root keys, set the loops of the sound files, set the ADSRs, etc. Rebuilding the patches by hand and saving them as Obsidian presets works fine.
