  • NS accepts external midi input so playing in chords is simple: just use the chord app in standalone mode and send the midi to NS, record it to a track. I use SoundPrism all the time.
  • Nice work! The music and the art are definitely cut from the same cloth 👍
  • Yes, that’s it. I would maybe group the source and the sends together under a common parent track, then find a good wet/dry mix and use the group track’s fader to set the overall level. This is actually a preference question because the steeper the cut, the more artifacts it will produce. This applies to all filters, not…
  • You can use send tracks to split the signal so you don’t need to duplicate the source. Just turn down the level fader on the source and set the sends to pre fader. Or use the source level as a wet/dry control (not volume matched, though). Then if you want to get super efficient, save the channel layout into your default…
  • AU effect automation is not supported in NS. AU instrument automation is supported but you have to use the Performance controls in the NS AU instrument.
  • Are you using AU effects in the project? Some of them, especially dynamics related – like compressors – introduce quite a bit of delay. I usually notice it with FAC Maxima.
  • Well, Nanostudio does an internal mixdown and you have an external synth. Despite your hearing both audio sources at the same time from the audio output, Nave is not playing through NS. The external MIDI instrument is, as the name suggests, a MIDI device without an audio input. You would need to record the external synth…
  • It’s not precisely random either but you can get any range you want by selecting all notes and using the two drag handles, one on the left and one on the right. One moves them proportionally, one moves all by the same amount. Try it out and you’ll see what I mean.
  • The desktop app was actually just a free demo version for the iOS NS1, but since Matt is Matt, it was fully functional and fairly popular. For the second version, he decided it was unnecessary, so unfortunately there is no desktop version of it. I get why – it wouldn’t have brought in any money, so it’s just extra work,…
  • Not a single button press? Yes. Tedious? Well, depends what you mean by it, but at least it’s not slow. Here’s how I do it. https://youtu.be/o3Ohp8Nrax8 Randomize would absolutely be a fun addition, I would love to be able to use it on a number of parametres, especially if you could do multiple at once.
  • It’s a 32 bit app, which is not supported anymore. Rewriting it for 64 would have been a massive undertaking, so Matt made Nanostudio 2 instead. You can, however, get an emulator that runs a 32 bit OS which can run NS1.
  • Yes, you can not do any file level operations like deleting or renaming or moving to the open project. Save as is the quickest route, then you can immediately delete the old project.
  • You need to use the Nanostudio AU instrument’s keyboard, not Minimoog’s own keyboard. It should work exactly like Obsidian’s keyboard.
  • Save as is a lot easier 😀 archiving is best for moving between devices and reloading samples is for when you can’t get to the original location for some reason or another. I’ve been answering these questions so many times I sometimes get confused 😂 Glad you got it sorted!
  • You have two options. 1. Option: Put the files back into the original place and archive (export) the project. This collects all the necessary samples into the project. Then you can move the archived project file and open it in the destination folder. 2. Option: Reload the samples the project is using from their original…
  • It’s an extra setting but you can assign the same knob that controls the level of random lfo to the level of the value that the lfo is controlling. So, if you have an lfo controlling cutoff and you want it to stay centred, you set the knob to LFO Level +100 and Cutoff -50. Mod wheel is Knob 1 by default.
  • It’s actually a pretty huge undertaking. Next on the list but huge all the same.
  • No problem 🙂
  • It’s drag and drop. Drag onto another track to make a group, drag out to unmake. https://youtu.be/P69ZUUhpPvo
  • It’s not a no-no, but mostly this forum is run by the mods/beta team and we report to Matt, who is the developer. He does come here occasionally, especially when there are announcements, like updates or serious issues like the first week of iOS/iPadOS 14 when NS needed an update to fix IAP issues. We haven’t heard anything…
  • I moved this to General chat because I’m guessing it was in bug reports by accident. There’s a beta team but it’s been pretty much the same small bunch from the beginning. There have been a couple people who have had special use cases that we couldn’t test and they have been granted access to a beta, but there have been no…
  • No worries, I think I’m part of the furniture by now 🤓 but it’s a new forum, everyone got purged when NS2 came out.
  • Great to see these finally released, really hope they sell well!
  • Audiokit Synth One is only IAA, not AU. Synthmaster One is AU, so that one should show up.
  • Just to clarify, are you looking for sounds from actual acoustic string instruments like violins and cellos or something like a vintage analogue synth string sound?
  • It can be very tricky to get 1:1 comparisons between different iDevices because you can never really tell when it decides to switch from the low-power cores to high power.
  • The changes happen at region-specific times but I do not know what that time is. I think the app store can be a bit unpredictable because changes don’t happen instantly when a developer makes them, it takes time for them to propagate through the system. At least that’s my understanding, I’m not a dev so I don’t have first…
  • That’s odd, it definitely should not do that unless the sale ended between those final taps! Try logging out of your Apple ID, rebooting the device and logging back in.
  • To my knowledge, IAP downloads and purchases are handled by Apple’s app store, the dev can do nothing there. But normal troubleshooting procedures could help jog loose whatever is holding up the download. * Check your Apple ID that the purchases are definitely listed on your account. Sometimes they just don’t register, but…
  • The mixdown is not in realtime, so it is not very probable that an upgrade would affect that. Sorry. But you could well get a shorter buffer for recording and playback out of a more powerful device. Just how much, is anyone’s guess.
