NS2 makes this easy, just select all your tracks except drum and bass and group them, then put the high pass on this new group. It's also handy to put reverb on this group if you want to keep your drum and bass cleaner but have freedom to mess around with reverb or other effects for the other tracks... Sends are probably…

Oh yeah  Your mates might have been right about too many changes, though, if what you have posted is an edited-down version :) There's enough ideas here for a couple of tracks. BTW it made me think of Perturbator and synthwave. Probably the textures!

Excellent work there. I love the collection of stuff around the painting in the video as well, it's like a still life in itself except not still... I love watching these timelapse videos as well. There's something very satisfying about seeing a scene build from nothing. Keep posting please! I'd love to hear and see more :)

Bruce would be proud! ;)

@Anchoy check out the Setup section near the end of this manual page: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/ExtMIDIInstrument.html Another alternative if you already have the track set up in some other way (e.g. using an Obsidian instrument) and don't want to change it to the External Midi type is to…

Lol, my fingers barely fit on my bass guitar :) @Niko if you want small keys, you could consider a midi AUv3 effect. I have Velocity Keyboard, and it lets me choose a keyboard or a string layout, but it in keyboard mode it also lets me get a ridiculous 7 octave on the screen... Unusable like that for me, because of my big…

Wow. Very cool in so many ways! I agree with @Will on the vocal mixing; on my PC speakers and with my imperfect ears the vocals came across a bit muddied, and Will's suggestion might help that. Might just have been the mic? By comparison, your vocal in On Fire comes through so much more clearly for me, and is better for it…

Great news! :)

@PUMP I like to "init" the pad you are putting the sample on, then just load the sample. That way you know that there's nothing else going to mess with your loop :) and you just have to trigger the loop with a short note to make it play all the way through. I also usually just have one loop on a track, this way I can…

Me too :) both for audio and midi AUv3s... And I'd like it to be available in both part and song automation! Audio first, though :)

Might be a problem with Synthmaster One, since I can't get it to do what I expect it to do in Auria Pro either. I think it might apply to all the mod matrix settings in Synthmaster One. I can get some other controls to work, e.g. controlling the arp is quite an interesting feature! Can anyone else get these to work?

Like the use and design of the sfx :)

Still works like a trooper for me. I was playing on it just the other day for old times sake. Reminded me of how much you can get from Eden. My PC is an old i7, upgraded from Win7. No video card any more, it died so I'm using the one integrated into the motherboard. It does sound like video drivers, imo.

Still liking these :) There's a lot of little detail in there, adding depth and surprise to every progression. That makes it a nice balance of predictable and surprising. Very cool!

You're welcome :)

Hi @Nomzai Open the Obsidian patch you're using (the kick transient), go to Edit, then choose the oscillator (usually Osc 1). The "KEY TRK" tracks how much you want the note/midi to change the pitch, so turn that all the way down and there you have it - your transient should have play at the original sample pitch (although…

I liked it :) but I have only listened a few times, not for hours on end. We tend to be our own worst critics ;) It builds energy nicely (and gradually) then resolves it at the end, and I like the arps since they too build the energy, but in a melodic way - a bit like a guitar solo might.

Hey @otis - did you know that you can set the time counter from bars to minutes and seconds (and back again) by double-tapping the counter at the top of the screen? If you know how long the sample is, you can then easily set up some sort of marker at the end of the track. Other thing I tend to do if I am doing something…

That so much takes me back to the late 80s sound! It needs vocals by Andrew Eldritch :)
-
Yep - worth revisiting! And many others I hadn't heard yet :)
-
Sweet! Nice composition. I like the way you play with phrases, and the sound design or choice.
-
@echoopera you can always use Ableton clips to send midi into multiple Obsidian tracks as a way to arrange on the fly, then polish (edit the midi, add automation, mix) in NS2. I've tried this from Modstep and from Maschine with good results in both cases. Remember to turn Ableton Link on to synchronise :) This is probably…

@andicsaputra in my opinion make sure you go to a real shop and try one out if you can before you buy... the feel of a musical instrument really affects how much you feel like playing it :) I agree with @dendy on the korg nano series. I have a Nanokey2 and it is really portable, and OK for playing some genres (e.g. using…

Thanks for the posts, @drez and @Stiksi I hadn't seen that Future Music video, or even heard of Luca Pretolesi, but boy does he contribute a lot to get the sound of that track to where it was when released, and he explains why he's doing what he does so well, which is great because the tools in NS2 can often get you a…

Nice to see collaboration :)

PS message me if you do, so I know to look :) https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/community/index.php?p=/messages/add/Trigger_the_Monkey

Yep! If I've written it in NS2, I prefer to do mastering in NS2 :) That way I keep it all together. Mastering is a huge topic, but NS2 has many options to help you. If you're learning how to master (like me!) there's a lot of info out there.... here's a video I found helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-QCQiOkufc,…
-
@rcarmo good point - options which make better use of screen real estate are well worth considering, so @dendy your post with the three options makes good sense.
-
@cretakano I see - thanks! One thing I've found interesting about these discussions on what NS2 should do next is that there are so many different ways we all work. That makes it really difficult to design s/w :anguished:
-
@cretakano have you tried copying the pad you want to play tonally to a number of pads, then pitching each pad differently using "transpose" under the "sample" page for that pad? If you only want a few different pitches, that works really well. It also has the advantage that you won't need to change into a different mode…
