  • @Will @dendy That's awesome. :) I myself am hoping my NS2 journey heads into betatesting territory myself as I have my own insights into GUI, audiotracks, and all that (given I'd test it on my iPod with the small screen). Meantime, an update to my journey. I just finished remaking an old track from my MTV Music Generator…
  • Sorry for my late replies everybody. @SlapHappy It's funny you mentioned that thread, because this was originally going to be an answer for that thread, and it just didn't really fit. It's been more of a journey, and "learning to adapt my workflow" was simply a small part of it. :) My thread is more for people's continuing…
  • If a sound isn't available to me in Obsidian from one of the packs/factory presets already, I will load the AU, program the notes (making sure not to close NS2), and then bounce to wav using "song loop" rather than "entire song". From the Mixdowns folder, I move the audio file into one of my "Project Specific" folders…
  • Basically, Beathawk occasionally remembers what sample patches are being used per AU instance. However, more often than not, it won't remember. If I were to use Beathawk as an AU within Nanostudio 2, I'd name each track with the appropriate patch name and write in the notepad in the save screen which pack and patch. It…
  • Lol. I use Beathawk and own all the packs, and if I could get the AU to behave, I'd simply use the AU within NS2. However, the AU never remembers what sounds I'm using, so when I reopen a project, I have to select the patches within each instance of the AU all over again. This problem isn't unique to NS2 however but rather…
  • Of course mate. :) I try to be as informative as possible. A couple of things I forgot to mention is that Pro-L2 comes with that handy advanced LuFS loudness meter, which is more accurate for matching loudness between tracks than an RMS meter. Matching loudness between tracks is crucial when mastering an album. Another…
  • I can defo do comparison examples, but first the answer while it's still fresh in my mind. Short answer - I love both limiters. Pro-L2 is just a bit better though. Just get both. ;) Longer answer - Both seem to be somewhat similar in how they process a signal internally. Both seem to have almost the same threshold (-8dB…
  • So it looks like they have two bundles. This is for all the plugins... https://apps.apple.com/app-bundle/id1469377147 ...and this is for upgrading Pro-Q2 to Pro-Q3... https://apps.apple.com/ca/app-bundle/fabfilter-pro-q-3-upgrade/id1469374654 Already done since it costed me only $15 to upgrade. @richardyot I had no idea…
  • Nice to see you here mate. On the AB forum, I said I'll eventually get all the Fabfilter plugins, and perhaps completionism will get the better of me sometime in the distant future when they have a Black Friday sale. Trust me, it DOES feel tempting to buy them all, doesn't it though? The only other plugin I'd really need…
  • It does help by cutting down the CPU, although now I wish there was a way to expand the sonic range just for certain patches. Perhaps a failsafe switch can be implemented in Obsidian.
  • It was the limit of the LFO looks like. I had a REALLY fast LFO modulating the filter 1 cutoff, and it just wouldn't work. Disconnected the LFO, and voila! It sounds normal when rendered now. Thank you all for helping me find the solution. :)
  • I hear. :) Well NS2's compressor is perfect for gluing singular tracks, sound design (and trust me, it shows up everywhere in my track), and 90% of my everyday usage, but the trick of MDE is that... * It's impossible to make sound like shit, lol. Most compressors tend to steal a little bit of the high frequencies depending…
  • Exactly. A mastering engineer's wet dream, lol. Our mate Doug (SoundTestRoom) has a demo vid out by the way. This authority of demoing all the iOS music things should be the determining factor. ;) https://youtu.be/mKoeRivAntM
  • Thanks mate. :) And yes, the drums were synthesised in Sunrizer. Wouldn't be a proper challenge otherwise. I forgot to mention, the only sample I used was an inaudible closed hi-hat acting as a sidechain trigger. I disabled "send audio to parent", set up the compressors and sends, and presto chango. 😎 Oh, and in Auria, I…
  • @dendy Bloody hell, I never knew I could do that! Well that streamlines the process tenfold doesn't it? :) Good man. Thanks mate.
  • DerVoco plays back just fine, but it won't render anything for me (freezes during mixdown). This wasn't an issue as I could simply record the output of NS2 into AudioShare via AudioBus and bring that back into NS2's File System and edit the audio file via Slate. There's one problem now. IAA will be deprecated in iOS 13.…
  • Ghost notes would be bloody ripper. Perfect for complextro/dubstep/bass house as well as orchestration. Thank you Dendy for being a mate. :)
  • Indeed it would mate. :) And just to avoid confusion, I'm not asking for the automatic EQ matching function as that often comes off sounding pants rather than natural/musical. Just the frequency content of both displayed at the same time.
  • Tried one at a time, and finally got it working. Seems that Apple just needed to get their sh*t in order with the appstore.
  • Isn't that always the way though? 😂 Apple makes great tech but needs to upgrade their servers or something to meet the demand of all of their users. Ah well. :) Cheers mate.
  • Okay, now it's downloading, albeit slowly. Phew, at least I caught a lucky break, lol.
  • Right, I forgot to mention I did all of the usual tricks to try and make it work, including restarting the iPad, and nothing doing. It's frustrating. Are the IAP packs downloaded from the Appstore servers or a different server. It may be an Appstore thing as it's been acting rubbish all day, lol.
  • Holy shit. Extending the sustain loop WORKED! Oh my god am I stoked. Had to zoom in all the way to sample level to achieve it, but it is achieved. You're a damn genius @dendy . Props.
  • Or maybe extending the looped section. I'll give both a shot. :) Thanks Dendy. Always get excellent help from ya mate.
  • Everytime I turn around, NS2 has something that surprises the hell out of me I never considered before. I dont mind the fact there are some missing non-destructive features, because the pros outweigh those minor cons. Sampling does take some time, but it takes far less time in NS2 than AudioLayer and Caustic and other such…
  • I deleted Beathawk. Looks like I'll redownload it again, lol. Editing loop points in NS2 is a breeze with those handles - far simpler than I had anticipated. And do I detect some slight crossfading between the loop points in order to smooth clicking? :) It's pretty excellent I must confess.
  • I'm still hoping for a world instruments pack (or packs) that cover(s) all of the various continents and countries around the world, or at least an SFZ player IAP that can handle all of the nuances of some of the more complex patches I have. Problem is, I'm trying to create a Grecian-inspired EDM track, and Beathawk often…
  • That's it! :D Thanks mate. Talk about a "time saver". :smirk:
