Thanks for the help!

Same here, and it's even worse with vocals, I find mixing a track with vocals much harder than mixing an instrumental, there's just so much more stuff to deal with (de-essing, finding the right compression and reverb, cleanup etc) and then it's always a challenge to mix the vocals so they can be heard clearly but without…

Hey thanks for the listen and the feedback! You're probably right, I'll take a look at the drum levels again, and maybe even look at automating the drum bus. It's always hard with vocals to get the right balance between vocals/instruments/bass/music.
-
Oooh I need to check that one out!
-
This one is in an indie rock/shoegaze track, mostly done in NS2. I guess there might not be many people making this kind of music with NS2 but actually it's surprisingly well suited to it, obviously audio tracks will make it even better. The main reason that NS2 works so well for this genre IMO is the drum sequencing is so…

Audio tracks are coming, just be patient. Look at Korg Gadget for example - how long did it take for that app to get some form of audio tracks? About 4 years, and even then they were really limited. Nanostudio has a long history on the iPhone, so a big part of its userbase are waiting for the phone version. I'm iPad only…

The Jazz Kit from the first post has been updated, now with some additional pads with brush scrapes on the snares: Jazz Kit
-
Some more stuff: Hand clap samples: I sampled these myself with a condenser microphone, 3 layers per pad, 16 pads: Hand Claps And two kits sampled from the Drum Loops HD app, they sound pretty good, 3 layers of velocity in most pads: Pop Kit Modern Pop Kit Vintage
-
Here's a variant on the 60's Po Kit, this one has different snares and kicks, the snares are damped which is a really typical 60s sound (they were often damped with tea-towels): 60's Pop Kit v2
-
A percussion kit, with cowbells, triangles, guiros, rainsticks, woodblocks etc... Uses all 32 Slate pads: Percussion kit
-
This is what I mean:
-
Slate already does choking: in the Pad controls for the sample set the group to something other than Global and then set the polyphony to 1, then do the same for other pads which need to choke that sound. It's just like a regular choke group but more flexible.
-
Another new Slate kit, a collection of maracas and shakers: Shakers
-
My pleasure - there's more on the way!
-
Two new Slate kits for you, this time with percussion elements, most of the pads are multi-sampled, derived from various free resources on the internet: Tambourines Sleigh Bells
-
As @number37 already said if you click on the link you should have an option to "Open In", just select NS2 from the list of apps. This should work even if you don't have Dropbox, it's just a link at the end of the day.
-
I think it would make sense to add Audiobus, then the app could sample any synth, IAA or AU.
-
Another new Slate kit for download, this one is based on the free 1960s Ludwig Oyster Blue Pearl: Ludwig Oyster Blue Pearl for Slate And here is a sample of the kit in action, with some additional compression and reveb
-
Congrats on the release :) A whole album in 40 days is pretty impressive. Listening now, it's very chill. Good job.
-
Yes I realised after posting this (was confirmed on the AB forum) it only works with external hardware. Shame.
-
Two new Slate kits, there are based on the free Easy Rider kit by Michael Kingston: Easy Rider version 1 Easy Rider version 2 There are 3 velocity layers for most samples (except the crash cymbals which have 2). It's a polite acoustic kit, suitable for a more laid-back vibe. Here is a sample of v2 in action
-
Cool - thanks!
-
Another Slate kit: 60s Drum Kit This is based on the free 60s kit from DrumDrops. It has 3 velocity layers and some snare variations. You can support them by buying their very reasonably priced kits, the Single Hit packs are perfect for Slate because they come with 3 velocity layers for each drum, and they're only about…

I'm sure there's no conspiracy, but all devs have to juggle limited resources and prioritise. Cubasis does do some things particularly well, such as AU MIDI and MPE. I like using it for certain things, just not for final mixes.
-
Definitely not Cubasis :) Cubasis doesn't allow for sample-accurate audio editing because the grid resolution is too coarse. It also lacks some really obvious audio features such as crossfading, and glueing regions together. It's actually pretty awful for any kind of audio editing, even basic stuff like trying to remove…
-
Here's another Slate kit, based on the free MegaReaper kit, this one has 3 velocity layers for every drum and some snare variations mapped to pads: MegaReaper kit And here's what it sounds like: MegaReaper Beat - Honky Tonk
-
Good to hear that!
-
So I own many drum apps on iOS, and beats are always the foundation of any music I make so I've spent a lot of time messing around with drum apps. I tend to prefer acoustic drums to electronic ones but I think the discussion applies to all genres of music. I think NS2 is absolutely awesome as an environment for creating…
-
Cool - glad you like them :)

Yes obviously implementing a Session View would be popular with a significant amount of users and potential users, I just imagine that it's a non-trivial task, especially to do it well.
