Here’s a simple patch inspired by the often sampled intro of Return From The Ashes by John Dankworth and his Orchestra: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mahsn553i8e4zhk/dankWORTH.zip?dl=0 The knobs on the Perform tab can help things get wobbly and spaced out😎

Not to stir the pot, I’m still curious about the pitch automation for Slate that was mentioned on the first page. I’ve found the only workaround for this is filling multiple pads with pitched samples and sequencing rather than automating. Is the Pitch Automation in the Pattern Editor only applicable to Obsidian? Are there…

The respect of either would be an honor, but Samo Hung or Jackie Chan would mean the world to me 😎 I grew up with the Saturday Morning Kung Fu Theatre flicks @Fruitbat1919 @SlapHappy Yes, this thread is destined to be Mega! I’ll definitely be trying to contribute regularly after the holidays are done here. One question, is…

Mines a self portrait, but the resemblance is uncanny so it’s practically a photo 😉

I never had an iPad to use with NS1, used it exclusively on iPod touch 3rd gen and iPhone 5C, and it ran pretty much flawlessly on both...still does on the 5C (iPod battery lasts about 45 minutes on a full charge anymore, not worth the time and effort to refurbish). The iPod touch had a smaller screen than the 5C and it…

Once NS2 gets iPhone compatibility and audio tracks I'm planning on having multiple devices running at the same time in my home setup...each device will have a specific role, but with AirDrop sharing I can pass the working files between devices and continue working on the same project from any position in the room (behind…

@LucidMusicInc right on! If you layer several Obsidians with the same patch and just transpose them you can use the MIDI send so that one key press in the parent Obsidian plays a chord. You could even have several separate groups of Obsidians, each group set up to play a different chord. The possibilities are almost…

@Fruitbat1919 It’s a handy screen to have when the tracks don’t all fit on the mixer screen. Adding some quantized triggers or allowing for macros to control groups of volume knobs would be amazing! I’ve always played NS1 like a groovebox primarily, rather than sequencing out every automation. This screen makes that easier…

You can sort of use the Instrument Overview screen as a clip launcher...sort of... If you stack a bunch of loops in the track view then set the loop marker and switch to Instrument Overview you can Solo, Mute, or adjust individual track volume. If there was a way to Quantize the mutes and solos to the bars then it would…

@LucidMusicInc You can use the same Slate to control multiple Obsidians too, so combined with transpose controls on the Obsidian oscillators you can make some very complex chords with just a few pads.
-
You can also use a Slate as a custom scale/chord player by routing a MIDI Send to an Obsidian track. You can customize the notes each pad plays so arranging a custom scale is short work, then playing chords is just a matter of pressing pads in a grid.

@nkdvkng Killing it man!!! Love that flute and those drums especially!

I remember downloading NS1 on my iPod touch 3rd gen the first week it was released, joined the forum a while later as Joe Maulms, but I can't remember posting more than a dozen times or so. I remember collaborating with SyrupCore ( @will on this forum, I presume...sorry for the lack of a dedicated button ) on a track…

@dendy @SlapHappy Thanks fellas, knew I was overlooking something!
-
Thanks @Dendy I completely forgot about the Manage tab in NS2...chalking it up to lack of sleep🤤. I found that the Files app acts very buggy if DropBox and Drive aren’t also opened and logged in, sometimes it doesn’t show the folders or files so it’s essentially useless for moving things at that point. A hard reset would…

Anyone else having issues with the native iOS Files app on iPad not showing any of the folders and then freezing up? I’ve tried various other file manager apps and can’t seem to access the same files. How do you guys avoid using a desktop/laptop to get your presets out of the NS2 folder?
-
Man, these are all solid tracks, you guys are awesome! So much talent and variety in this forum, this thread is gonna be fun to watch! Here’s my first contribution, made with factory and custom presets, no AUv3 plugins, 10 Obsidians and 3 Slates (CPU only hit 31% on 2nd gen iPad Pro😆). https://youtu.be/e0L-IktHIAY

No bugs I’ve seen yet, but side effects of exposure to NS2 include: head nodding, insomnia, brain melting, happy feet accompanied by antsy pants and an increased need to dance. If jam sessions last longer than 4 hours you’re doing it right, rock on and turn that mother out.
-
Ah, ok...for automating an effect per pad I could see that.
-
If you edit your samples at all before loading them into a pad I’m not sure why you would need more effects per pad than what’s available, especially considering you can have dozens of Slate banks in a track.
-
Change the MIDI NOTE and you can trigger multiple pads at once (see picture).
-
@dendy A handle for MIDI stretching would be a very elegant solution, would also save from entering a menu. Excellent idea.
-
Pitch Bend automation in the Pattern Editor is the only workaround I see for that.
-
I’d gladly pay for a desktop version, but completely understand why iOS development is more important from a business stand point. If @"Blip Interactive" does decide to release NS2 for desktop I would hope he charges enough to compensate for his tremendous work. This is the one application I would still use happily if it…
-
Right on, that’s very reasonable.
-
Keep up the awesome work @"Blip Interactive" Thank you, for real, I really love NS1 and NS2 and appreciate you immensely for creating them.

You da man @dendy Thanks!

Hold the record button, options for count in are None, 1, 2, or 4 bars.
